Houston Fire Department Station 81 Visits Galaxy FBO.
Located at 7900 Paul B. Koonce Street, Station 81 provides Aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) capabilities for the commercial and corporate aviation traffic at the Houston’s William P. Hobby (KHOU) airport. The station has been in service since 1987, and there are plans to renew and upgrade the facilities in 2022 to modernize and match the Hobby airport’s current needs.
Station 81 is currently have 10 personnel on duty 24 hours each day, meets the FAA Index C standards, with capabilities to meet FAA Index D if and when needed. The station operates several ARFF vehicles, including:
AR-26: 2016 Rosenbauer PANTHER 6×6 with Roof and Bumper Turret.
AR-27: 2019 Rosenbauer PANTHER 6×6 HRET (Stinger) with Roof and Bumper Turret and piercing nozzle.
AR-28: 2006 Rosenbauer PANTHER 6×6 HRET with Roof and Bumper Turret and piercing nozzle.
Each vehicle carries water, Aqueous film forming foams (AFFF) and other fire extinguishing agent dry chemicals to fight any aircraft fires.
